How to make a successful assembly for through-holes

Here you can find our installation instructions for Nord-Lock wedge-locking washers when used with a through-hole assembly. To install Nord-Lock wedge-locking washers, follow these 4 simple steps: 

  • Step 1: Discard damaged bolt. 
  • Step 2: Lubricate. 
  • Step 3: Place the first pair of washers on the bolt and place the second pair of washers on the nut. Mount the bolt in the hole by hand until positioning is complete. 
  • Step 4: Tighten the lower joint 20 degrees and the upper joint according to the Nord-Lock torque guidelines.

My installation looks funny!

Does your assembly resemble any of these images? Then something probably went wrong during assembly. Always make sure to view or read the How-to-install Nord-Lock washers before you start to assemble your joints.

Never divide the washers and only use one of the washers! No wedge-locking effect to secure the fastener. Watch installation video
Never combine with plain washers!
Always use 2 pair of washers for a through hole assembly!
The mating surface must be locked in place + Never combine with plain washers!
