HOW-TO-INSTALL NORD-LOCK WASHERS
THROUGH HOLE ASSEMBLY
1.0
Easy and quick to install
Prevents bolts and nuts from loosening
No need for re-torqueing
Guaranteed preload over time
YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS
Through holes require two pairs of washers.
All our washers are laser marked (Nord-Lock brand name, control number, type code). This is to ensure you receive genuine Nord-Lock washers and enables full traceability down to the first assembly.
PREPARATION
Nord-Lock washers always come in pairs. If your washer is accidentally separated make sure the washers are mounted cam facing cam.
Discard damaged bolts.
Do you have a tight fit between the bolt and the hole? Use the standard washer.
Do you have a loose fit between the bolt and the hole? Use the enlarged (SP) washer. Ideal for use on large/slotted holes, painted surfaces and soft materials. We recommend the use of flanged head bolts and nuts with our SP washers.
INSTALL AND TORQUE THE NORD-LOCK WASHERS
If you use lubrication, this is when you apply it. Go to this link for more information about lubrication.
Place the first pair of washer on the bolt. Place the second pair of washer on the nut and mount the bolt in the hole by hand until positioning is completed.
Keep the nut secured when tightening the bolt. Tighten the lower joint 20 degrees and the upper joint according to the Nord-Lock torque guidelines.

FINAL CHECK
Never use a plain/flat washer with Nord-Lock washers. If you need a larger diameter washer, use the Nord-Lock SP washer.
Never divide the washers and only use one of the washers.
Make sure the washer is aligned and rest flat.
Correct installation.
