How it works?
The wheel nut represents a simple and cost effective way to make wheels safe and secure for more productive and efficient operations. Each nut incorporates a pair of captivated washers with cam faces on one side and radial teeth on the other.
When the wheel nut is tightened, the teeth of the Nord-Lock washers grip and lock the mating surfaces, allowing movement only across the cam faces. Any rotation of the wheel nut is blocked by the wedge-effect of the cams.
Advantages
- Quick and easy to install and remove with hand tools
- Pre-lubricated
- High corrosion resistance
- Reliable locking
- Reusable (depending on usage environment)
Testing & Certification
Nord-Lock wheel nuts have been rigorously tested and approved by independent institutes as well as certification authorities. The Junker test is the most rigorous method for testing change in clamp load for wheel nuts.
During the Junker test, the tested products are tightened and the clamp load is monitored during 1000 load cycles. The conventional wheel nut rotates and loses most of its initial clamp load in the joint. The Nord-Lock wheel nut safely secures the wheel joint and maintains the clamp load.
